We got our brief for our next project. We have to create a piece of art that can be used on several different formats to promote The Handmaid's Tale ballet performance at London Coliseum. They have to be within the same professional style of the ENO artwork and submitted as high resolution print-ready documents at 300dpi, CMYK. I have started creating my image for The Handmaid's Tale brief so I will do a walkthrough of my process here. I wanted to keep within the same style as the ENO promotional posters we were given as examples. These posters keep a very simple and minimal design, so I decided to make a very simple and clean vector image as my piece of art that I can apply to all the different necessary formats. Here I took a screenshot from one of the episodes of The Handmaid's Tale TV show and imported it into Adobe Illustrator. I traced around the outline of the woman using the pen tool. I then had the simple outline of the woman and decided to use the Live paint bucket tool to fill in the woman, using the eye-dropper tool to pick out the exact colours from the reference image. I liked how this looked but felt I could do a bit more detail, so I traced around some of the more complicated parts of the original image. Here is my completed video show reel showcasing some of the work that I have produced during my studies. It features multiple music videos that I have created since 2017 as well as one side-scroller game I made in first year to show that I have skills in multiple areas. The show reel is edited to an instrumental version of Perfect Places by Lorde. I think this song works quite well as it sounds very uplifting, modern, and has simple chords which are easy to edit to. I tried to make sure I had some visual matches such as where one girl in one of my videos flips her hair, it cuts to another shot of another girl flipping her hair in a different scene, just to flow nicely for the audience. Additionally, at one moment the music stops entirely for a second, before the beat drops, and at this moment I made sure there was no image on screen at all.
