I have found a particular vacancy with Rockstar games that has me really excited about the opportunity to work there, so I have decided to tailor my CV, cover letter and gratitude letter to fit this particular job description, and I will then actually submit an application. The vacancy is for a Junior Production Designer who would be responsible for overseeing the creation of digital assets and content using Adobe Creative Cloud. I would be perfect for this job so I am doing my best to write an appropriate cover letter as well as a CV that surpasses the ATS. The ATS or Applicant Tracking System is a system that filters out CVs or resumes from other applicants. I have created an Excel document to track my progress when looking and applying for jobs. So far I have sent a few applications out to jobs within the gaming industry. Most notably Rockstar and Konami who are very famous developers. I'm not expecting for an interview or anything at this stage, but I thought it would be worthwhile noting down some of the developers and what jobs are out there that I might be interested in.
I have really enjoyed this part of the module for a number of reasons. It's really nice to have the opportunity to actually create something I can use for my portfolio by the time I graduate, and overall I think I made a good piece of work that I am personally quite proud of. I think I successfully captured the style of the existing ENO posters whilst still making something unique that they haven't already done before. I have experience using Adobe Illustrator from my time in college, but it's been a little while since I've created something from scratch, and making the mock-ups in Photoshop was a nice touch, so it was great to revisit these skills. It was really useful having all of the requirements and measurements set out for us. I like knowing exactly what is expected from me, so having a list of the exact measurements, resolution and format, as well as reference material made the process of making these designs an enjoyable and stress-free experience.
